Turkey-Burger-finished

Sauté the scallions, celery and apples in the oil until tender. Let cool.

Place the ground turkey or chicken in a large mixing bowl. Add sautéed items and the remaining ingredients.

Shape into eight 8-ounce burgers. Refrigerate for 2 hours.

Meanwhile, to make the chutney mixture, preheat oven to 350°. Toss the diced pears with the cinnamon and salt. Bake on a parchment-lined cookie sheet for 10 minutes. Cool and mix with the chutney and currants or raisins.

When you’re ready to cook the turkey burgers, season them with salt and pepper and place on a preheated, lightly oiled grill or grill pan. Grill each side for 7 minutes, until meat is thoroughly cooked.

Rest for 5 minutes.

Meanwhile brush butter on inside of each bun and lightly grill. Serve each burger with a side of Pear Chutney, your favorite toasted bread, avocado slices, cheese, lettuce and for some extra crunch some thinly sliced apples. Finish your plate with either a big veggie salad, (as pictured below) or crisp fries.

Turkey Burgers with Pear Chutney

Tips: It is extremely important to chill the burgers before cooking, ground chicken or turkey has virtually no fat and this step helps bind the burgers so they don’t fall apart.

Make sure to oil the grill or pan to avoid sticking.

If you can’t find TABASCO® brand Chipotle Pepper Sauce, use a Chipotle salsa, Herdez makes a good one.
